LeBron James

Expect James to be in the lineup come game three.

By: Bill Leholdt

The NBA Playoffs keep getting more and more interesting by the round. While the Los Angeles Lakers have put on their championship hats with a 2-0 start against the Utah Jazz, the Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics have surprised many by stealing a game on the road early in their respective series.

To keep updated with all the action throughout the playoffs, we’re here to provide an expert spin on any rumors, trades, or any possible fantasy perspective.

Read on for the latest buzz filtering through the NBA:

LeBron James, SF, Cleveland Cavaliers

James is expected to undergo an MRI for his recurring elbow injury, which is tentatively being regarded as tendinitis.

We think this is a classic “loser’s limp” that James will use throughout the playoffs, and won’t stop until he either comes up short, or wins the NBA Finals.

Even if there is any significance to the injury, there’s little reason to believe James won’t play in every playoff game the Cavaliers have slated for them.

Kevin Garnett, PF, Boston Celtics

Garnett is marked with a foot injury, and according to head coach Doc Rivers, the star forward would not be able to play if the Celtics had to play a game on Wednesday night.

Garnett will likely be held out of practice for Thursday, and you are best-advised to monitor his status for game three if you have him on a roster in any fantasy basketball playoff leagues.

Andrei Kirilenko, F, Utah Jazz

Andrei Kirilenko is set to return from a calf injury for game three against the Los Angeles Lakers. He’ll likely be limited in his first game back, but if you need blocks for fantasy playoff leagues, he might be worth a look.

Robin Lopez, C, Phoenix Suns

Lopez is listed as doubtful for tonight’s (Wednesday) game at San Antonio. He’s been working his way back from back and leg injuries, and could be available at some point in the playoff series against the Spurs.

Anderson Varejao, F/C, Cleveland Cavaliers

Varejao is battling back spasms and is listed as day-to-day. Contrary to popular belief, Varejao’s defense and intensity is a vital part of Cleveland’s roster, and he’d be missed if he couldn’t take the court in game three at Boston.

With Cleveland’s next game being on Friday, however, we fully expect to see the Brazilian fro in action.
